As a director of Centro Ecológico Akumal, I welcome you to our sea turtle blog. It is very important to me and my staff that we share information of our work in the Akumal region and hopefully, you will join us in our efforts to protect these incredible species. After many years of working in biodiversity conservation, I have learned that much more can be achieved when we join forces for these noble objectives. Centro Ecológico Akumal does not achieve anything without all the generous support from so many people, especially the volunteers who come to Akumal each year to patrol the beaches at night, clean beaches, inform visitors and help with just about everything in the day-to-day operations of our sea turtle protection program. In fact, thanks to more wonderful volunteers and students, this blog was put together and helps us reach all of you. Likewise, this blog is a chance for you (volunteer or visitor) to be involved with us from anywhere in the world, and experience all the things that are going on in our Turtle Program.

Me llamo Yolanda Blanco. Somos una familia española enamorada de su país. Ya hemos visitado su país en tres ocasiones. Estoy tan fascinada con su riqueza natural, que he pensado en dar una charla a la clase de mi hijo el mayor ( 7 años) a cerca de : las tortugas, la barrera de coral, la naturaleza, las energías renovables y el cuidado y respeto hacia la Naturaleza. Les agradecería que me ayudasen a encauzar la charla ( fotos, videos o cualquier otra información) y lograr , con este granito de arena, que sean mejores personas o que por lo menos se paren a reflexionar sobre el tema y el daño irreparable que estamos causando al medio ambiente. Muchas gracias y un beso muy fuerte de mi familia. P.D. Lo que envidio de su país es su clima ( aquí ahora está nevando... y a 3 grados bajo cero....)
